Introducing the Business:

Runaway Play is a mobile game developer. We make games inspired by all things nature! All our games are free to play, and are available on the App Store and Google Play Store. Our biggest market is in the US, with our target demographic being Females ages 18-45. It is our dream to produce a portfolio that has a positive impact on players lives while progressing through art forms created by our world class developers.

What the Business needs:

Junior Developer

We’re looking for passionate and creative team members to join us on an ambitious journey to create the greatest portfolio of games about the natural world. Come work in a fun, challenging environment with a talented team of engineers, designers and artists all dedicated to creating exceptional mobile entertainment products. Role We have an ambitious slate of titles we want to roll out over the coming years, and we need additional game programmers to help this happen! Come join our team as an intern, up skill and learn on the job with the support of senior developers. The responsibilities that you will have as an intern include; being able to work alongside other programmers to maintain our current titles, being apart of new feature development, build, test and iterate on new game features, Iterate fast, getting quick demos into the product owner’s hands, then integrating feedback into the next revision, having personable skills to work with the design and art team to develop concepts for new mechanics also participating in the wider group design dynamic by play testing new features and products in the portfolio. The essential skills that are required include; Passion for games and creating innovative consumer products, Practical programming skills, Game creation experience (if you’ve made something before, send it to us so we can play, it can be simple!), Initiative to self manage and ensure your time is being used in the most efficient way possible to produce fun experiences for end users and most importantly being a fun and personable individual that is able to gel with an outgoing and ambitious team. It is preferred if you have a Tertiary degree in Computer or Information Science, knowledge of C++ or LUA or Javascript (or the ability to learn) and experience in developing for mobile, particularly with Cocos 2DX or Unity. 

 

Junior Artist

We are looking for a passionate and creative team member to join us on an ambitious journey to create the greatest portfolio of games about the natural world. We have an ambitious slate of titles we want to roll out over the coming years, and we need additional artists to help this happen! Come join our team as an intern! Up-skill and learn on the job with the support of senior artists. Your responsiblitlities as an intern with will envolve creating a new environment and character art, Being apart of a future development, creating art based on wireframes and notes form the game design team, and then being able to test your work and iterate on the new game features. Work with the design and art team to develop concepts for new mechanics, participate in the wider group design dynamic by play testing new features and products of our wide portfolio. Essential skills that you will need to have include; Passion for games and creating innovative consumer products, strong 2D artistic skills, with a strong portfolio of work to back that up, initiative to self manage and ensure that your time is being used in the most efficient way to produce fun experiences for end users. Most importantly, the potential intern needs to be fun and personable to ensure that they can gel with an outgoing and ambitious team. It is preferred that you have previous experience in game art (send us some examples!). It is also preferred if you have or are studying toward a Tertiary Degree in Design or Art. 

 

Digital Marketing Intern

User growth is the single greatest challenge that faces game developers around the world, and Runaway is no different. Having recently become a self publisher, we want to bring the same innovation and creative thinking to marketing that we have to development. That means we’re looking for a bright, imaginative, and ambitious marketing specialist to join our team and drive new initiatives that connect nature lovers and gamers from across the world with our unique portfolio of mobile games. After having mixed results with paid “performance” marketing, we’re looking to expand our efforts to more innovative “organic” marketing opportunities that better utilise the unique differentiators of our brand, and harness the creative power of the studio. Sound like a fun challenge? We’d love to hear from you! Responsibilities include; Design and run promotional campaigns across email, social media, and any other relevant marketing channels - Help set the tone for audience communication - Work with the Community Manager and Product Owners to design and promote events which inspire our audience to share their love of the games - Measure and report on campaign ROI - Constantly be on the lookout for new growth opportunities Essential Skills: - Passion for building a powerful brand that our customers love - Imagination to dream up innovative marketing campaigns that stand above the crowd - Analytical mindset, able to balance cost / benefit of many different opportunities - Outstanding written communication skills, ability to write advertising copy if needed Preferred: - Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or equivalent experience - Experience with: Email platforms such as MailChimp, Emma, or Drip - Experience designing and iterating on Marketing Automation campaign workflows - Experience in paid UA such as AdWords, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter advertising - Photoshop / Illustrator experience for mockups and user story designs
